A final word on Diabetes

Updated: Aug 7, 2021

My final word of the week below.

So..... How you can help yourself reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 Diabetes is almost entirely preventable with a healthy lifestyle. NB If you have diabetes and want to change your diet or start exercising please refer to your doctor or health professional first.

Some guidelines:

• Maintain a healthy body fat level or reduce your body fat level • Eat regular meals • Avoid alcohol (high in sugar for one thing) • Eat a fruit and or vegetable with every meal • Eat a form of legumes every day • Eat protein at most (if not all) meals • Avoid processed foods and trans fat • Exercise for at least 5 hours per week • Avoid refined carbohydrates • Consume no less than 25 grams of fibre per day • Eat/supplement with foods containing omega-3 fats

Happy Friday. Wishing you all a great weekend and if you want to discuss anything with me please feel free to contact me at karenflawith@gmail.com.
